The idea behind starting this blog is to share the information I've learned in the past few years as well as the stuff I'm still in the process of learning. That may mean sharing recipes I invent or alter, crafts, life lessons (usually in photo form), experiences, organizing revelations, or just random topics that I find interesting. Truth is, once I've done my research, weighed my options, and found the cheapest (or most entertaining) method of doing something...you probably won't change my mind. That said, I have a theory about myself: I may be convinced I'm right, but that doesn't mean I'm convinced you are wrong....more like I'm just convinced that I'm right about what is best for me ("me" includes the babe!), so I'm always open to discussion or additional tips to any of my topics!
Just a couple years ago I was given the opportunity to be a Stay At Home Mom (it's a job title, so it's all capitalized...I'll get into that later). I can't even begin to explain how thankful and grateful I am that my husband is willing and able to provide a comfortable lifestyle for us while I stay home with our daughter! I know it's not a position everyone can be in, so I refuse to take it for granted. My job title is different now, but I still have responsibilities, consequences for slacking on my job, deadlines, and "bosses" that get on my case and on my nerves...one of them drives a convertible, the other drives a FisherPrice scooter. I've been given the opportunity to grow and develop in the one job I'm absolutely sure I was made to do! (You'll see me refer to being a mom as a "job", but trust me, that's just because it's quicker to type than privilege/honor/or calling.)
My focus is always finding ways to save money, find ways to get as much done every day while using every possible opportunity to educate the babe (which usually turns out educating me, too), and to maintain balance in relationships (with people and with my faith). I'll be sharing some of those experiences here, and hopefully someone somewhere can connect somehow. We all learn in different ways and through different experiences, but I think the lessons in being married and parenting are pretty much universal.
So far, I've learned that (1) Everything is a work in progress (2) Everything is a learning experience, and (3) Everything happens for a reason; call it God, karma, luck, or fate. I've also learned that, whatever you call it, you better learn from it and adjust your attitude, actions, and outlook accordingly.
Brace yourselves, this is going to be a very straight-forward entertaining ride. It's going to be chock full of funnies, yummies, pretties, and brutal truths. If you read enough of it, you might start to think I'm a little crazy, and that's okay! You can call me crazy if you want, but I'm still doing it anyways!
